TKaMB Blog Prompt Two
I think when making fair judgement about a person or situation, the person making the fair judgement must be unbiased, i.e., be unaffected by prejudice views present in a certain group or society, as demonstrated by the jury of Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird. This is one of the reason that the modern United States judicial system mandates that during the period of a trial, members of the jury must not read or watch any news so as not to affect, consciously or subconsciously, their viewpoint of the event, and a jury member must be inspected by the attorneys of both parties to ensure their fairness and neutrality. However, fair judgement is sometimes misled by circumstances, with one of the most common being "in the wrong place at the wrong time", which could happen in everyday life, and in the courthouses as well, albeit on a grander scale. Subjectively speaking, "in the wrong place at the wrong time" is partially what had happened to Tom Robinson in To Kill a Mockingbird, apart from the deception on the part of Mayella Ewell, as if Tom Robinson had not went into the Ewell dwelling, Mr. Robert Ewell would not have "caught" him with Mayella Ewell, although Tom Robinson is manipulated into going into Ewell dwelling by Mayella Ewell.
